1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise something the next time you visit. Browsers also have a similar feature called local storage, which a site can use to remember things on your device without sending them anywhere. This policy covers both, because the difference matters to engineers far more than it matters to you.
2. What we use, and why
Everything below is necessary for the shop to work, which is why none of it can be switched off from the cookie choices panel. None of it is used to profile you, and none of it is shared with anyone.
The one cookie:
- ferutz.session keeps you signed in after you enter the one-time code we email you. It holds only your email address, sealed so it cannot be read by page scripts or altered without us noticing. It lasts 30 days, or until you sign out. If you never sign in, it is never set.
Browser storage, which stays on your device:
- ferutz.cart.v1 holds what is in your bag: which cases, and how many. Without it the bag would empty every time you changed page. It stays until you empty the bag or clear your browser.
- ferutz.cart.province.v1 remembers the province you picked, so the free-delivery meter talks about the right place. It is only set if you choose one, and it stays until you change it or clear your browser.
- ferutz.consent.v1 records your cookie choices and the moment you made them, so we do not ask again on every page. It stays until you change your choices or clear your browser. If this policy changes in a way that matters, we ask again.
3. Analytics and marketing
The cookie choices panel has two switches you can turn on: analytics, and marketing. Today, nothing sits behind either of them. We do not run any analytics service or any advertising tag, so turning them on changes nothing yet.
They exist so that the lock is in place before the door. If we ever add an analytics or advertising tool, it will only run after you have switched the matching category on, it will stop the moment you switch it off, and it will be named on this page, with what it collects and who runs it, before it goes live. Both switches start off, and they stay off unless you turn them on.
4. Your choices
- Change your choices at any time with Cookie choices, at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing was.
- You can also block or delete cookies and site storage in your browser settings. If you block the necessary items above, the shop will still let you browse, but your bag will not remember what you put in it and you will not stay signed in.
- Choosing Only what is needed, or closing the panel without choosing, never switches anything extra on.
5. When you check out
When you continue to pay, you move to checkout pages run by louin.io, the platform that runs our checkout and ships our parcels. Those pages are on louin.io, not ferutz.com, and louin.io sets its own cookies there under its own privacy policy. This policy covers ferutz.com only.
6. Changes to this policy
When we add, remove or change anything the site stores, we update this page and the date at the top in the same release. If a change adds something that needs your permission, we ask you again rather than assuming the answer you gave before.
